VimpelCom, Xiaomi agree to unroll joint stores chain in Russia

MOSCOW, Apr 30 (PRIME) -- Russian mobile operator VimpelCom, working under brand Beeline, has agreed with Chinese electronics company Xiaomi about a partnership in retail sales and opening of joint stores in Russia with attention paid to small cities, VimpelCom said on Friday in a statement.

The first store of a new format has already opened in the city of Uglich, the Yaroslavl Region, in the European part of the country, and about 50 co-branded stores will appear by the end of 2021.

“The interior of the stores combines recognizable elements of the both brands. Several hundreds of models of electronics are presented on the location of some 50 square meters. They include smartphones, wearables, smart goods for home, and Xiaomi TV tuners,” the statement read.

The stores will offer the operator’s full subscriber services as well.

Mobile operator MTS earlier also opened its first co-branded store with Xiaomi and plans to expand the chain to several tens of outlets by the end of 2021.
